FUNERAL PROCESSION

“Sheldon Higdon will have you on the edge of your seat!” —Eerie Von, original bassist and cofounder of Danzig

Funeral Procession gathers horror stories and poems about the things grief, love, and fear can make impossible to release. A social worker discovers the monstrous meaning behind a mother’s promise to never let go. A woman watches a televised lottery choose the date of her death. At the river’s edge, a grieving boy meets a reflection that knows what he’s tried to forget.

Here the dead rise, the crows gather, and a lonely road leads to a bargain with Death. Some horrors arrive with a visceral shock; others take root in memory, regret, and the fragile bonds between people. Across more than two decades of both previously published and unpublished stories and poems, the supernatural grows from Sheldon Higdon’s private fears and old wounds…and each story leaves its own mark.
