| Founded in 1977, the Frances Goldin Literary Agency is a full-service literary agency based in New York City’s Greenwich Village. We represent only literary fiction, high-quality commercial fiction, and serious, often controversial nonfiction, and have a particular interest in books with a progressive political orientation. The agency represents over 100 award-winning writers, journalists, scholars, poets and activists. We are a small agency by preference. We work closely with our clients through all stages of their work, from the preparation of proposals, to the marketing of published books, to subsidiary rights sales. We believe in fostering long-term relationships with our clients by providing personal attention and working as partners in the development of their writing careers. Submission Guidelines |
| Please query first with a letter. We do not consider unsolicited manuscripts, or material that has been previously submitted to publishers, even by query letter. If querying by email, send a project description and brief biographical information including publishing credits if any (no attachments please) to the appropriate agent, and put “Query” in the subject line; if querying by conventional mail please include a SASE. We do not handle screenplays, illustrated books, romance or science fiction. We do not handle work that is racist, sexist, ageist, homophobic, or pornographic. There is no charge for reading. Response time is 4 to 6 weeks.
