I realize I will offend people with this blog so let me say right up front, YOU DON’T HAVE TO READ IT. Damn, you thought I was going to apologize didn’t you. Well, we are no longer apologizing on this site. If you don’t like the content don’t read it. Hmmmmmm, that sounds a little confrontational. Let’s start over again.
Mawadda Nour has won the Miss Arab World 2009 contest earlier this month. I know, I am a little behind. It was actually held at the beginning of November. I just came across this today as I was lying in bed trying to get up the energy to go shower. I have to prepare for all of the turkey and stuffing that will be injected into my ever protruding belly in a few hours. When I saw the headlines I did a slight double take. Don’t the Arab nations stone women for being vain and showing off their wares in public. Isn’t a beauty contest for women contradictory to their entire belief system.

Not saying that Arab women can’t be or are not pretty. Some of them are smoking hot. Oddly there are probably hundreds of thousands of smoking hot Arab women that we will never see simply because they are constantly covered up. As with all religions everyone believes different things. To each his own. I only take issue with religions or governments when they refuse to allow women to wear bikinis. Dude, anyone that says no to a bikini is just flat out wrong. I mean wrong damn it.

So it is with great happiness that I see the Arab world loosening up a little and doing there own beauty contest. From what I can tell there was not a swimsuit competition in the contest but everything in life moves forward in baby steps. One inch at a time. Every single thing can be defined in inches. We here at JournalStone.com yell a hearty congratulations to Mawadda Nour. Not sure if she would have been my choice, it is hard to tell in the outfits they were touting but still, she is the winner and we are all pleased.
My only suggestion would be to soften up on the red lipstick next time. I realize that make-up is not the norm over in the sand dunes but still a littler softer can’t hurt.
Sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes you just have to stand up and applaud progress in all walks of life. I never thought I would use the words progress and beauty pageant in the same post but it just goes to show you we can all take new avenues if we just give ourselves the chance.
