Can you imagine getting Sandra Bullock and Janine Lindemulder in a boxing ring and letting them go at it. For the two people in the world who do not know what I am talking about I will give you the brief 15 second summary. Sandra Bullock is the aging American Sweetheart that is famous for romancing us with comedy. How many times have we seen her fall in love with Hugh Grant? In real life Sandra married the tattooed bad boy Jesse James. No not the gun slinger who can’t keep his six shooter holstered but the garage guy who fixes stuff and then smashes it up again.
Well, Jesse in his former life before he got wise and married the good girl had a relationship with Janine Lindemulder who is a porn star. Not that porn stars are not good mind you, just in a different way. Do you really think I could make this stuff up? Well Janine just got out of prison for tax evasion and her drug addicted felon of a husband and her want to have visitation rights to her kid. Little Sunny. At least they named her Sunny; she might have trouble keeping the clouds at bay as she gets older with this mess of a family situation. Well, you can’t keep a mom from her daughter so everyone agreed to letting the porn princess see her child on a Sunday now and then. She did have to stay sober and keep her insane husband away from the kid. Rules are rules.
So now all hell is breaking loose and you can’t go a day without reading about Sandra and Janine fighting it out in the tabloids and on morning TV. Do we really have to wake up to a porn star crying about not seeing her kids? Now comes the twist. Who can say really? What if Janine has cleaned up her act and no longer does drugs? Shouldn’t she be allowed to be in the kid’s life? What if she has stopped eating a different banana every day and wants to be a decent straight up rock hard role model?
Having just gone through a divorce and fighting non-stop with my ex-wife about custody and visitation I can honestly say I learned one thing. Your ex-spouse is always insane and they are always wrong and they are always a worse parent than you are. Sadly both of you are saying the same thing so it makes it difficult to get anything done. I finally woke up one day and came to piece with the fact that my ex would never parent the same way I did but in the end was it really that bad? Does there always have to be a right and a wrong. Maybe some things in life are just different. Not better or worse but simply different.
Not knowing the specifics of the parental situation in the celebrity war of words I can only give one small piece of advice. In a battle of this nature there is really only one loser, the kids. The children are the ones who suffer. They get torn from the fact that their mom and dad, the two people they love more than life itself are mean horrible people to each other. It just does more damage than good. I guess since my wife was not a drug addicted porn star at any point in her life the situation is slightly different but the results will most likely be the same.
Sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes I just want to stay in bed all day and eat peanut butter spread over apples. Really, you can do that apparently.
